ASTM B462 C276 ( N01276) Hastelloy Alloy Weld Neck Flanges
ASTM B462 specifies forged or rolled nickel and cobalt alloy
flanges for use in corrosive environments. Specifically suitable
for Hastelloy flanges:
Hastelloy C276, Alloy C276, or UNS N10276 by its unified numbering
system. This material's outstanding corrosion resistance is its
most prominent feature. It resists a wide range of chemical media.
Weld Neck Flanges connect to piping systems. Their tapered neck
design provides optimal stress distribution, with a smooth
transition from the flange ring to the pipe wall, significantly
reducing stress concentrations.
They are the preferred type for harsh operating conditions
involving high pressures, high temperatures, severe thermal
cycling, high vibration, and potential piping bending.

Applications
These flanges are used in harsh environments where there is a
significant risk of corrosion, and are commonly found in
Chemical Processing Industries (CPI): Reactors, heat exchangers,
piping systems, and those handling halogens, acids, and solvents.
Pollution Control and Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) Systems: Treat
hot, wet flue gases containing sulfides, chlorides, and fluorides.
Pulp and Paper Industry: Used in chloride and chlorine dioxide
environments in digesters and bleaching plants.
Pharmaceutical Industry: Process piping requiring extremely high
purity and corrosion resistance.
Waste Treatment: Systems handling hazardous chemical waste and
acidic waste streams.
Oil and Gas: Used in the harsh environments of highly acidic oil
and gas (containing H₂S and CO₂).
