ASTM A270 TP316L Sanitary Stainless Steel Seamless Pipe U Bend

ASTM A270 covers the grades of seamless, welded and heavily cold worked austenitic and ferritic/austenitic stainless steel sanitary pipes. Seamless pipes shall be manufactured using a process that does not involve welding at any stage. Welded pipes shall be manufactured using an automated welding process with no filler metal added during the welding process. Heavy cold-worked pipes shall be cold-worked to a reduction of not less than 35% in wall thickness and weld thickness prior to final annealing. Filler must not be used when welding.

All materials shall be supplied in heat treated condition. A length of flat rolled stock or a single tube should be chemically analyzed for each heat. Each pipe shall be subjected to a mechanical test such as reverse flattening test, hydrostatic test or non-destructive electrical test.

The following surface finishes can be specified: Milling Finish, Mechanically Polished Surface Finish, 80 Finish, 120 Finish, 180 Finish, 240 Finish, Electropolished Finish, and Max Rough Average Surface Finish. Only the inner surface can be polished longitudinally, and the inner surface, the outer surface, or both, can be polished circumferentially.
